Ever have an insane urge to grow your email list members past the number of dollars the movie “Avengers: Endgame” has earned?
Of course you have!
Which is one reason why

The email list you build…
Well, it will be more useless than a spaghetti strainer is for carrying 3 quarts of your favorite beverages during a 3 mile jog IF you never MAIL that list!
It never ceases to amaze me how many people DO build lists but then never mail them!
Remember – building a list is to help YOU build YOUR business.
And just like its a privilege to have people on your list… its a privilege as well for them to be on YOUR list!
It’s a 2-way street.
And those people who cannot respect that – they do not deserve the wisdom you have to give them.
You know… the above would make for a grand one problem one solution report as well! You could boil it down to:
Step 1.) Give yourself permission to value what you have to share
Step 2.) Armed with that, research list building and build a list in the best way that resonates with *you*
Step 3.) Zero in on a newsletter/email structure… and mail your new list!

And….. Where was I?
It’s Monday!
Actually, no, still Sunday at around 6pm or so.
and as you might remember, it was Mother’s Day yesterday.
I wrote about Toxic moms, and also wrote:

Ever been blessed by being raised by the perfect mom?
Nope, me neither.
And it’s taken me almost 8 years (since her death) to make peace with several aspects of her parenting.
However, now that the bone condition that she had is manifesting itself rather unhappily in me, my perspectives on what makes a ‘good mom’ has been redefined bigtime.
You see:
It’s been said you can never understand what someone else is going thru until you walk in their shoes, you know?
That is sooo true indeed.
If there’s one thing my Mom was among the several billion other things, it was stubborn.
She lacked the ability (she truly did) to apologize even when she was obviously 140% wrong.
I managed to break that cycle with my family, and am proud to say that whenever I realize I *did* goof – I admit it, take ownership of it, and see how I can best make amends.
But there’s another thing my mom taught me, which I never could understand prior until hearing about (what I’m about to reveal) it last week.
And it’s this.
There really *can* come a time when, enough is enough…. and if you accept demands by kids that you MUST change *your* behavior because your ideas are different from theirs …
… Well, not only are you doing them a HUGE disservice …
You’re also seeing behavior that is just as fanatical as are the hardliners in politics.
Such behavior should never be rewarded.
I was reminded of this a week or so ago, when a friend of mine shared the latest in family drama. Her kid insisted she change her beliefs to align with hers. And when my friend did not, the kid chose to sever communications.
My reaction?
Let the kid go.
Some things cannot be learned – they must be *experienced* before wisdom has the opportunity to introduce itself and actually become a welcome guest.
So, for all those moms like my friend, I wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day for the following reason:
One of a mom’s 98347753 roles is to *guide*.
It is NOT to be *spineless*.
And sometimes, the relationship between moms and kids (heck, parents and kids) can go thru *extremely* strained times (I remember during the high school years, my eldest and I would have figurative knock-down drag-out fights more drama-worthy than Detective Pikachu.
But now? Now, life has granted him the wisdom to see what eluded him before… and I can’t imagine life without him).
So here’s to you Moms who have done the very very very VERY best you knew/know how, even if your kids haughtily declare you should have done still more. Seriously… what the hell do they know… not having lived your life themselves?
Yep. What I just said.
Remember:
Life, luckily, generally tends to impart … *wisdom*.
In this case, it’s the wisdom to recognize quite how utterly *naive* it is to believe you *know* how others should behave, without having *experienced* their lives.
In closing, be good to yourself! Remember that the future is always in motion, unless your friendly neighborhood low-flying asteroid decides to remove you from the plane of this existence.
And *never* let your kids try to blackmail you with their beliefs about how life *should* be… especially when they lack living experience outside their own perfectly shiny ivory tower.

Happy Mom’s Day if you celebrate it!
Thing is…
Not everyone’s mom is a great or even good mom.
I am very lucky in that mine was. Like all parents, she made her mistakes… but I am confident she did the very very best she knew how.
After all, most parents generally do NOT wake up and say, Jeepers! Gonna mess up my family today!
Right?
Still, though….
Things happen. and sometimes, one has the hell of having a toxic mother as well.
If YOU have or had a toxic mom (or dad for that matter)….
Please do NOT feel that her issues were because of *you*.
Most likely, her issues were because of HER.
HER ISSUES!!!
If you can find it in yourself to forgive and move on, that might be the best way to move your own life forward.
And if not, these things happen…. and perhaps next year you can make that change.
