“Jeepers self, if *only* I could somehow pull myself out of the Disco and Tickle-Me Elmo era and actually advanced to presentations a bit more modern than a fossilized clam!” (In other words, you realize that your blinking texts and lens flares, along with your Hi-C Animated Juice Jug that bashes into your walls every now and then might be… outdated a wee bit).

This nifty post provides you with not 1, not 2 but 7(!) signs that your presentations are grazing with the dinosaurs, including:
Death by bullet points
Bullet points are a stubborn holdover from PowerPoints early use that continues to rear its ugly head. My advice? No more than 5 bullet points (it’s the max we’re likely to remember) with 6-8 words each. If you have more, consider breaking them up into individual slides or use a handout.
(allow me to disagree with that – my beloved bullet points have saved me many a “buy a clue” clueless readers but hey, I digress).
One size fits all
In 1980 Nike had 200 different types of sneakers. Say you didn’t like the color but liked the fit, well, you just had to compromise. Today you can buy any one of 475 Nike sneakers, OR you can create your very own design customizing various elements – which expands the number exponentially.
Therefore it’s no surprise that today’s customers expect a custom experience – whether they’re investing in a pair of shoes, a car, or a complex solution.
In this “I’ll have it my way” market, generic presentations don’t stand a chance. Tailor your presentation in meaningful ways to avoid being instantly labeled out of touch….”

Yep, it is Saturday and I will admit it… it’s been a rough couple of days. 🙁
So sorry about missing the past few days… it’s been really hard.
I’m doing my best to stay positive, and wrote yesterday:
“Another person posted, is 2020 the worst year for you too?
Here’s my answer… and I think it’s worthwhile to post as weell.
So far thanks to social distancing, working from home, doing digital products now for … I forgot how long… this year for my family *personally* is far from the worst.
I, who am hugely introverted, have made great friends with lots of colleagues/peoples online!
Family members with depression have gotten the right meds to help them come out of it (myself included).
I have networked with a tribe of people I would be proud to walk the mountains with and am honored to call them my friends, even if we never met in real life.
My husband and I have been married for 26 years, thru better and thru worse (and the worse was beyond bad)… and we still wouldn’t choose any other person on the face of this planet.
I reconnected with my stepson, his mom and her partner in positive ways.
I have helped several Honorary Lings navigate young adulthood, along with my own kids. Sure, some are finding their own way… but I have 140% confidence in them!
I have learned to proactively tell my family members that I love them! even if it embarrasses them. That way, if I die today… the last thing they’ll have heard from me is the fact – they are loved by *me*.
I have learned to take ‘way more ownership of my own flaws (which included ‘way more passive/aggressiveness with my kids – they now call me out on it and it happens far less).
I have learned to constantly send memes/pictures/try to raise the spirits of those who I know are having a hard time.
My family has taken bunches of precautions so we’re okay … so far.
I know that can change in an instant but for now….
2020 (for me *personally*) is not (yet) the worst I’ve ever had.
Your takeaway? Tomorrow is never promised. Tell the people you love… that you love them.
It’s a good thing to do.”
